DEAR JOHN FILM AND THEATRE COMPANY ANNOUNCE ADULT ACTOR TRAINING

Leading Queensland performing arts and film production school Dear John Film and Theatre Company announce Adult Actor Training courses for this October. “One of the most important things any aspiring or seasoned actor can do is to learn and continue to practice their craft” said Dear John Artistic Director Amanda Hardwick. “Most successful actors were not ‘discovered’ walking down the street, nor were they necessarily an overnight success. Truth is they trained hard to earn their place on our stage and screens.”
With a focus on working with the actors individual goals, Dear John’s Adult Actor Training course is perfect for the actor who is starting out, but also for the actor who is seeking to polish their skills or re- enter in industry. “Much like working out in a gym, this course is focused around providing the actor with training; enabling them to develop a toolkit of skills to apply to scripted and improvised scenes” said Amanda. The nine week course will have a focus on honing skills such as the ability to interact and react, the ability to create character and shape a scene, articulation and verbal dynamics, script analysis, an introduction to the casting process and many more skills.
Throughout the course, actors will have access to the Basecamp platform, allowing direct contact with teachers and fellow students, as well as giving teachers the opportunity to provide individual feedback, and provide additional resources outside of the weekly class. “The Basecamp platform is going to be an incredibly valuable tool, it’s going to allow our students to seek advice, ask questions and receive resources outside of the rehearsal room - We think it’s really going to make a difference” said Amanda.
