Vibes On A Summer’s Day announces 2016 return

Announcement posted by Frank PR 14 Oct 2015

Much loved music all-dayer back at spiritual home at Bondi Pavilion
Sydney, October 14th 2015Vibes on Summer’s Day is returning to Bondi Pavilion on January 24th 2016. Running for ten years between 1994 and 2003, the Sydney 2016 reboot is designed to bring together traditional Vibers and a whole new generation of discerning music lovers.

Having introduced headline acts as diverse as Groove Armada, Norman Jay, Gilles Peterson and Jamiroquai, Vibes on a Summer’s Day became a firm fixture on the national festival calendar, catering to cutting edge fans of the soul and funk fringes of house and breakbeat.

Vibes organisers are keen to tap into the positive sentiment still felt by past attendees, whilst engaging a younger crowd with the event’s commitment to offering first class eclectic live acts and DJs, broadly influenced by the dance and electronic music genres.

The first wave of acts will be announced on October 30th, with subsequent announcements made in the lead up to January’s event, but with the Norman Jay, Gilles Peterson, Propellerheads, Rae & Christian and St. Germain having all enjoyed billing at previous Vibes, event organisers guarantee that fans of great music will not be disappointed.

Commenting on the return of Vibes on a Summer’s Day to its original home at Bondi Pavilion, festival promoter Joe Conneely said:

“People don’t come to Vibes because of any one act, but rather to revel in the shared experience, or vibe, all set to a backdrop of beautiful soulful dance music.”

“Despite our impressive backstory, Vibes 2016 won’t be a celebration of all things retro.  It’s a celebration of classic music taste; timeless acts and performances that transcend age and musical fads.”

Conneely was happy to learn that Waverley Council, which green lit the first event back in 1994, had fond memories of Vibes and was happy to accommodate the 2016 Vibes at the Pavilion – the first event like this they’ve allowed at the hallowed grounds in years.

With the all dayer peaking in 2002 with some 10,000 sun-soaked revellers in Sydney alone, the 2016 event represents a return to Vibes’ intimate and authentic roots – only 1,200 tickets will be made available.  Registration is essential for ticket purchasing eligibility, with a limit of 4 tickets per registrant.
