Multi-vendor Solution Outlines NFV Path for Telcos

HP, F5 Networks and Nuage Networks team up with Telstra to produce ETSI-certified Network Functions Virtualization proof of concept
Today HP announced it has joined with NFV ecosystem partners, F5 Networks and Nuage Networks, and Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications company, to develop a Networks Functions Virtualization (NFV) proof of concept (PoC) solution. This multi-vendor solution has been certified by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), providing communications service providers (CSPs) with a documented, repeatable framework that can be referenced in deploying NFV technologies.
NFV offers a new way for CSPs to design, deploy, and manage networking services. By decoupling the network functions from proprietary hardware appliances, CSPs can accelerate the introduction of new, compelling services quickly and cost-effectively.

HP OpenNFV platform – An end-to-end virtualization framework built around openness
The HP approach to NFV is built around adherence to openness and standards, a key benefit of which is the ability to enable other telco ecosystem vendors to introduce new innovations on top of the HP OpenNFV platform, including network equipment providers (NEPs), independent software vendors (ISVs), and systems integrators (SIs).
