BONDI RESCUE’S HOPPO OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES NEW CHAPTER!
Bondi Rescue TV star Bruce 'Hoppo' Hopkins is stepping behind the bar for the official opening of Chapter One Bondi at 3/34 Campbell Parade Bondi Beach on Wednesday 28th October . As a prelude, and to learn the art of pulling a beer, he is starting his bartending apprenticeship with Hoppo’s Happy Hour to be held every Thursday to Sunday night commencing from this Thursday 15th October .
Hoppo and his new wife Stacey are the proud new owners of Chapter One Bondi which will feature a Japanese influenced menu each night . Traditional Australian food is available for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week from 6.30am at Australia's most famous beach.
Hoppo is the head lifeguard at Bondi Beach, he started there in 1991 and during the last 10 years has filmed Bondi Rescue as part of his normal "day job" as Waverley Council's head lifeguard.
He married his "runaway bride" Stacey earlier this year and while she is the driving force behind Chapter One, Bruce will slip behind the bar for "Hoppo's Happy Hour" from 4pm till late every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night to dispense life saving single malt whisky, beers and cocktails to apres beach goers!
Stacey says "Chapter One is a dream come true for me. We open for breakfast from 6.30 every morning and I look out at the amazing view of Bondi Beach and the Pacific Ocean and think I'm in paradise! It doesn't get any better to be able to work here. I know why Hoppo loves Bondi Beach so much. "
Hoppo has seen so much of Bondi's history in the last 25 years. " The Olympics came here with the beach volleyball stadium and our girls winning gold in 2000. Then I recall all the fuss over the aborted railway station. I'm not old enough to have seen a Bondi Tram but one of the funniest days was helping Sir Richard Branson arrive in the surf via a helicopter in 2004 ! Opening Chapter One and serving behind the bar is another chapter in my life!" Says Hoppo.
Chapter One at 3/34 Campbell Parade is open 7 days a week from 6.30am for breakfast and lunch and is fully licensed. Join Hoppo for Hoppo's Happy Hour from 4pm till late from Thursday to Sunday nights.
