Embracing Organic Skin Care

Announcement posted by Australian Health 16 Oct 2015

Modern society is experiencing a health revolution on many levels, from the foods we eat to the products we use on a daily basis. People are becoming more aware of what is in the ingredients and the benefits of using wholesome products.

However, many people don’t pay much attention to the ingredients of their cosmetic, skin care and hygiene products. If they did, they’d realise that some of it is actually pretty bad for you – and that their skin would benefit greatly from more organic solutions.

While many are becoming more conscious about what they consume in terms of food, and switching to more environmentally friendly household cleaning items, skin care product awareness is not changing at the same rate. Here we’ve compiled a few reasons as to how embracing organic skin care products can benefit your whole family.

Buy Wholesome Ingredients

There are a number of ingredients you will find in skin care products that can be either bad or good. This hinges on whether they are synthetic or natural. Here are a few specific elements to keep an eye on – and make sure you’re getting the right stuff:

·       Emollients

·       Emulsifiers Preservatives

·       Humectants

·       Surfactants

Synthetic emollients are quite bad for the body, whereas natural emollients have the opposite effect – and it’s the same for all of the above. When a product is based on plant oils or has natural emulsifiers that can be found in berries, nuts and seeds, your system will reap the benefits. Not only because you are using a product that works well, but because it will aid your immunity and gives your body health support.

It’s well worth taking the time to check the ingredients label.

Get Rid of the Bad

Non-organic, manufactured skin care items will generally include more bad substances  – which have no ambiguity about their effects. Keep your eyes peeled for things like:

·       Mercury

·      Dioxane

·       Nitrosamines

·       DEA

·       Cyclomethicone

·       Ammonium Laureth Sulfate

·       Alcohol

·       Polyethylene Glycol

·       Polyethylene Eth

The thing is – it can be incredibly difficult to get these compounds out of the body, and they are absorbed by the skin quite easily. Toxins will remain and can cause damage to certain organs, so you want to avoid these things wherever possible.

Our Advice – Read the Labels

All the information you need to be aware of will be on the label of the product you’re purchasing. Companies are required by law to state exactly what is in their compounds, so you can trust exactly what you read.

As mentioned, it can be quite frustrating to read the ingredients list on everything you pick up, but you’ll soon get into the habit and it will become second nature. You’ll become familiar with which elements are good and which are bad.
