MOVIE NIGHT TO SUPPORT RIDING FOR THE DISABLED

Beyond Bank is holding a movie night on 30 October 2015 as part of a campaign to raise $15,000 for Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Lower Hunter and Raymond Terrace to help it install money-saving low voltage lighting in its arena.

“Late last year, we presented a $15,000 grant to RDA at Raymond Terrace and the Lower Hunter to assist with the installation of a solar panel system at its local arena and office complex,” Beyond Bank Manager of Distribution, Ray O’Brien said.

RDA was seeking to install a solar panel system to help reduce power costs and reduce its environmental impact.

“The work RDA does is so important to our local community,” Mr O’Brien said. “RDA provides horse riding and carriage driving lessons six days and three nights a week to around 100 children and adults with disabilities. These lessons help them develop their gross and fine motor skills, improve their balance, builds their confidence and self-esteem and are a lot of fun.

“When our staff heard RDA wanted to replace its power-hungry lighting so it could hold its popular evening programmes without facing crippling energy bills, they decided they wanted to personally step in and raise more funds for the organisation.”

Janet Sharp, Treasurer, Riding for the Disabled said, “We have a long standing relationship with Beyond Bank, they are our community partner who are always there when we need them.  We have a Community Reward Account with Beyond Bank that links our supporters’ accounts to us and provides additional funding each year.”

“During 2015, Beyond Bank staff from across the region have been holding fundraising activities and events to raise an additional $15,000 for RDA. They are getting close to their target and hope the community will help by attending a movie screening at Reading Cinema in Maitland on the evening of Friday, 30 October 2015,” said Mrs Sharp.

The movie being screened is ‘The Dressmaker’, which premieres in cinemas this month. ‘The Dressmaker’ was filmed in Australia and stars internationally-acclaimed actress Kate Winslet. 

“I invite everyone to join us for an enjoyable night out while helping to raise funds that will support RDA’s future environmental and financial sustainability and ensure they can continue to provide their vital and much-loved service,” Mr O’Brien said.
