Solo Female Travellers Hit The Road

Announcement posted by Pulse PR 28 Jan 2016

Forget the grey nomads, research is showing that female solo travellers are a growing market for the motorhome industry.

Recent research compiled by Trip Advisor revealed that up to 81% of Australian women surveyed were planning to travel solo in 2015.

Matt Sears, Managing Director of AW RV World advised his dealership had definitely experienced an increase in female buyers over the past 24 months.

“It’s been an interesting trend to watch unfold actually.  Traditionally we have always marketed to retirees and grey nomads but solo female travellers are definitely a solid market for us also now.

“Australian women are amazingly independent and they love the freedom and practicality that motorhomes can offer.

“A motorhome allows the solo lady to easily transport her vehicle without any hassles of towing, they can easily jump in the drivers seat and head away if they want a change of scene but have all the modern conveniences of a home such as a quality kitchens, bathrooms and fixtures.”

Matt advised that hitting the road in a motorhome is also a cheaper way for women to travel in retirement.

“Road travel and campsites are much cheaper than plane tickets and hotels, so if you’re planning on spending your retirement travelling, then investing in a motorhome is the way to go.

“While purchasing a new motorhome is an initial investment you will save money in the long run.

And if you are a solo traveller considering purchasing a new motorhome, Matt advises to first try before you buy.

“If you’re new to the world of RVs it is a good idea to rent before you buy.  This will give you a taste of life on the road and help you workout what you need from a motorhome in terms of layout and features.”
