Sigma laboratory centrifuges are celebrating their 40th anniversary. The original family business boasts a history dating back much farther than 40 years to 1948, when Martin Christ, Sr began manufacturing centrifuges. These centrifuges have been marketed under the Sigma name since 1975.

Sigma centrifuges are known for their performance and reliability, as well as a high standard of safety. Sigma has the right centrifuge for every customer requirement – compact, high-speed or stand-alone, refrigerated or unrefrigerated, heated, or very low noise.

John Morris Scientific offers a broad range of Sigma laboratory centrifuges, fixed-angle and swing-out rotors and accessories. All products meet high standards of reliability and safety. Application areas include pharmaceutical research, biotechnology, medical analytics, environmental analytics, petroleum analysis and many others.

“40 years of Sigma centrifuges” is the company’s motto in 2015. A special focus and highlight are the Sigma 1-16 and 1-16K microcentrifuges, available in special limited edition for the occasion with bodies finished in Sigma‘s secondary corporate colour “maize yellow”.

These exclusive models are available from October 2015 (in Australia) and feature convenient operation, including a motorised lid lock for effortless handling. Their maximum capacity is 24 x 1.5–2 ml, 36 x 1.5–2 ml or 12 x 5 ml in a single batch at an RCF of more than 20,000 g. The low-maintenance stainless steel bowl makes these centrifuges extremely durable. Both models are available in IVD-compliant versions. Sigma 1-16_1-16K-Limited Edition

The refrigerated Sigma 1-16K also features a fan control that adjusts the fan speed to match the necessary cooling capacity, making it up to 60% quieter and reducing power consumption. At maximum speed the Sigma 1-16 K reliably achieves +4°C.
