DON’T WASTE - EAT TASTE CREATE

Announcement posted by City of Canada Bay 12 Nov 2015

The average NSW household wastes 315kg of food a year – that is the equivalent to three fridges worth of produce – and the City of Canada Bay is keen reverse this trend says Mayor Angelo Tsirekas.

“The consequences of food waste are costly and the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) estimates the average NSW household wastes $1036 every year,” he said.

“In Canada Bay alone, we regularly see our residents throw out approximately half their red bin full of food waste.

“To combat food waste, help save the environment by reducing methane gases and save your pockets, we have partnered with local restaurants for a dinner series called Eat Taste Create.

“The idea of these dinners is to educate the community on how they can avoid food wastage, saving them dollars as well as helping the environment.”

As part of Eat Taste Create, local chefs from six restaurants in the City of Canada Bay share their tips on how to minimise food waste, saving you money whilst helping the environment and creating tasty meals.

Copo Café, in Drummoyne is kicking off the dinner series on Saturday, 14 November with a South American inspired dinner. Join Copo for a three course dinner, with the head chef providing his tips on how to best minimise food waste in the kitchen.
