ARNOTT’S INVITES SYDNEY-SIDERS TO TWIST THEIR OWN FAVE

Announcement posted by Porter Novelli 25 Nov 2015

Arnott’s 150th Anniversary Family Day – Sydney, Saturday 28 November 2015
To celebrate 150 years of baking Australia’s favourite biscuits, Arnott’s is inviting biscuit aficionados across the country to design their very own Twisted Fave – a favourite Arnott’s biscuit, with a modern twist.

With Arnott’s biscuits found in 95 percent of Australian households and more than 537 million packets of Arnott’s biscuits eaten by Aussies each year, everyone has their favourite. Now, Arnott’s is asking fans to get creative and turn some of its most iconic biscuits on their heads.

“Arnott’s biscuits has been a family favourite since 1865. With 150 years’ of history, we’re excited that for the first time we’re giving biscuit lovers across the country the ultimate customised bikkie experience and the opportunity to create something with us,” said Nik Scotcher, Marketing Director, Arnott’s Biscuits.

To kick-off the creativity, Arnott’s Mobile Biscuit Bakery has travelled more than 4,598 kilometres around the country for a series of 150th Anniversary Family Days starting in Newcastle, the birthplace of Arnott’s.

On Saturday 28 November, Sydney-siders can visit the Arnott’s Mobile Biscuit Bakery in Centenary Square Parramatta to spread, stack, split, sprinkle and shake up their very own Twisted Fave using an Arnott’s Monte Carlo, Short Bread, Vo Vo or Jatz biscuit base and topping with their favourite ingredients from chocolate and caramel to coconut and sprinkles.

Arnott’s has been baking in Sydney since 1908 when its Homebush bakery opened. Since then, it has moved locations to keep up with demand and now bakes more than 24 million biscuits daily from its state-of-art bakery in Huntingwood.

There are 125 varieties in the Australian Arnott’s biscuit range and across New South Wales, Sydney and Parramatta, the best-selling Arnott’s bikkies include Jatz, Tim Tam Original and Scotch Finger. New South Wales generally has a more savoury tooth with BBQ Shapes and Cruskits also making the top five compared to Sydney’s Tim Tam Double Coat and Vita Weat. People from Parramatta have a penchant for sharing with Pizza Shapes and Family Assortment rounding out their top picks.

“Anniversaries such as our 150th are a great opportunity to celebrate our long history in the lives of Australian families and communities, while also looking forwards towards ever-more exciting product innovations and biscuit taste sensations,” said Scotcher.

“We know those that come out to our Anniversary Family Days around the country, as well as families at home, will love getting creative with biscuits that have been part of Australian family life for generations! We’re excited to see the biscuit twists they create inspire the future recipes of our Twisted Faves bakers.”

By joining the free celebrations, there’s the chance to win $10,000 and have their biscuit produced especially for them by Arnott’s expert bakers. All they need to do – take a photograph before scoffing their Twisted Fave and upload the pic to twistedfaves.com.au or share via Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #TwistedFaves. The winner, as selected by a panel of Arnott’s experts, will be announced in December.

A few favourites from other stops on the 150th Anniversary Tour have been Pineapple, Coconut and Popping Candy Monte Carlos; Apricot Cream Shortbread; Chocolate coated Jatz with sprinkles and bacon bits; and Lime and Peppermint Iced Vo Vos. What will be Sydney’s favourite?
