OZTAG WORLD CUP ON ALL THIS WEEKEND AT QUEENSLAND'S SUNSHINE COAST STADIUM

NRL LEGENDS ANTHONY MUNDINE, CLIFF LYONS, ROD SILVA AND NATHAN BLACKLOCK RETURN TO THE FIELD.

The OZTag World Cup has kicked off at Sunshine Coast Stadium, Kowana Waters, Queensland. The event runs from the 3rd of December to the 6th and there are 170 teams from 21 nations competing in men’s, women’s and mixed divisions ranging from under 16 to over 55s. The OZTag World Cup is played every 3 years and was a major success in Auckland 2012. The four day tournament will bring together teams from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, South Africa, New Zealand and several South Pacific countries.

There are 15 indigenous teams competing this year, with former NRL players Anthony Mundine, George Longbottom, Cliff Lyons, Rod Silva, Andrew Walker, Nathan Blacklock, Kevin McGuiness, John Simon, Craig Simon, Ashley Gordon and Ronald Prince all getting back on the field. Best of all, spectators can watch for free!

“This is a fantastic event that brings together 21 nations, men and women of mixed ages who all love tag football. To have 15 indigenous teams taking part in the World Cup is tremendously exciting and I know everyone involved will have a lot of pride when we kick off the competition.” Says tournament director Jeff Hardy.
