Announcement posted by Second Helping 18 Jan 2016

Reality Wine Making series seeks contestants for a bucket list experience

Have you ever thought about making wine but never had the chance? MOJO Winemakers are calling for lovers of a good drop to take part in Wine: Baptism of Fire, Australia’s favourite amateur wine making competition and for 2016, the battle lines are drawn by state borders. Its city vs city, state against state. Wine: Baptism of Fire and Mojo Winemakers, encouraging the next generation of Australian wine making talent!

Wine: Baptism of Fire is searching for people from all walks of life, pitting teams of two from each state against one another, in a fight to the ferment, mentored by some of Australia’s favourite wine minds. Its our own winemaking reality program and we are looking for the W Factor.

Now in to its third year, Wine: Baptism of Fire is being presented for the first time by MOJO Winemakers and the competition goes national in our search for the best amateur wine making duo.

Jess Ho and Wiremu Andrews were part of Wine Baptism of Fire 2014 and said about the competition “Having the opportunity to be part of Baptism of Fire was a great way to understand the winemaking process rather than just the romantic story when the bottle is in front of you. As a bunch of rookies, not only was it fun, but it demystified the issues that wineries and winemakers face when getting the product out there.”

The contest is seeking applicants from across Australia who have always dreamed of making wine but have never had the opportunity. Contestants are encouraged to apply as a team of two and be guided through the process by mentors from the wine industry. Following the selection process, contestants will need to be available throughout the year to manage the whole process – from

choosing which grapes to pick, through to the design of the brand and the launch of the end result.

Each team will align with charity partners of their choice and MOJO will award a $10,000 prize to the winning team. Proceeds from the sales of the finished wines will go to the winning team’s

nominated charity. A selection process will be held in January, with grape selection and picking expected to start as early as February. There can only be one wining wine – make it yours. This is a

bucket list experience if ever there was one.

The competition will be documented in a web based reality series.

Applicants can register at www.winebof.com before January 22.
