Delta Agribusiness and NFS join forces in Gunnedah

In a merger that will expand the services available to farmers in the Liverpool Plains and lay the foundations for a once-in-a-generation technology change in 2016, Delta Agribusiness has acquired part of NFS Agribusiness in Gunnedah.

Delta Agribusiness (Delta Ag) acquired the retail merchandise and fertilizer business, as well as the spray and spreading application business of the Gunnedah merchandise business on 1 December 2015.

Mick and Leo Casey are retaining the Trimble and Precision Ag sales and services business, the Croplands machinery dealership, and the spray parts business.

“The merging of Delta Ag and parts of the NFS business will continue the growth and strategic footprint of the Delta Group in Northern NSW,” said Gerard Hines, Managing Director of Delta Ag.

“Delta Ag is a leading supplier of farm inputs, advisory and agronomy services in NSW, with 32 agronomists, and this strategic merger means a bigger range of services on offer for the Liverpool Plains, and a growing agronomy team in the district.”

Mick Casey said that NFS needed to expand, and the partnership has provided the best avenue to do so.

“We wanted to offer a more complete and competitive product in our chemical, seed, general merchandise and fertiliser business, and the opportunity to be part of a large, innovative and dynamic agribusiness really appealed to us,” he said.

“Delta Ag is a partnership with people we know and trust, providing efficiencies, stronger buying power, and the resources needed to reach our potential, without compromising our independence and autonomy.

“It’s business as usual at Mullaley Road, with the Delta Ag banner joining the NFS brand.”

Gerard said that 2016 would be an exciting year for the partnership, as Delta Ag rolls out new technologies.

“In the near future we will offer ‘bundled’ services to farmers, incorporating innovations such as the precision solutions suite of offerings from
Farmers Edge®, farm inputs and application, crop health monitoring, Delta Ag developed weather data and soil water monitoring (DAWWN) and potentially innovative grain marketing products which will be available through a ‘one stop shop’ approach offered by Delta Ag,” he said.

“The partnership with NFS, and that company’s deep understanding of the application business, provides us the opportunity to leverage this right across our business footprint, and to provide a more integrated and complete offering to our clients across NSW.

“We see this as essential to Delta Agribusiness in delivering the game-changing innovations for Australian agriculture that we are planning.”
