Tiger Turf (Tencate) Listed As Official Preferred Suppliers To The International Hockey Federation

Announcement posted by Tiger Turf New Zealand 23 Feb 2016

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has listed TigerTurf as one of its official Preferred suppliers as part of its Quality Programme for Hockey Turfs. The announcement confirms that TenCate Grass (represented by both TigerTurf and Greenfields) meets all criteria of FIH Certified Manufacturers and Field Builders, under an initiative which aims to provide high quality hockey fields for all levels of play. TigerTurf and Greenfields are in amongst a small group of companies worldwide to be given this status by FIH.

TigerTurf produces outstanding hockey fields using three types of systems: water-based, sand dressed and filled turf. All of TigerTurf's hockey systems meet national or global FIH standards and have been specifically designed for high performance play for all levels. Stephen Stones, Director for TenCate Grass Asia Pacific commented, “It is fantastic to be recognised for our long-term commitment to hockey; we have been developing, building and installing hockey fields for more than 30 years for schools, clubs and at International level. We are very excited about the future with our new generation of systems, ecocept base flooding water-based turf system, SINE fast draining shock-pad and Field in a box mini-field concept to support the FIH hockey 5’strategy. The future for hockey looks very bright”.

The FIH believes that the long-term success of hockey lies in the quality of hockey facilities around the world. As part of the Hockey Revolution, therefore, the FIH Quality Programme for Hockey Turf  was launched as a way to create international standards to ensure the sustainability, affordability and accessibility of hockey turf fields worldwide. The programme provides consistent and dependable industry standards and ensures the appropriate quality of performance for the intended level of play – whether it is community development, international competition, or anything inbetween. It protects the investment made by facility owners by ensuring the field meets the expectations of those who will be using it.

The FIH Quality Programme for Hockey Turf certified three categories of providers: Preferred Suppliers, Manufacturers and Field Builders. To assist  in the selection of quality products, the programme recognises three categories of FIH Approved Products offered by FIH Preferred Suppliers and FIH Certified Manufacturers: Global, National and Multi-Sport.

To ensure that hockey fields are being built to the highest standards and that FIH Approved Products are being installed correctly, the FIH Quality Programme for Hockey Turf includes the certification of hockey fields. The programme has four categories of FIH Certified Fields: Global Elite, Global National and Multi-Sport. All certifications under the programme are done by a IH Accredited Test Institute.
