Enterasys Networks leads the Modular Layer 3 Switching Market according to Dell'Oro Group

The influential Dell'Oro Group has ranked Enterasys Networks number one in market share in the rapidly growing modular Layer 3 switching market.

According to the Dell'Oro Group's first quarter report, Enterasys held the number one position in worldwide modular Layer 3 ports shipped, with 27.8% of the market.

Enterasys' success continues the past leadership of its parent company, Cabletron Systems, which has held the number one ranking in modular Layer 3 port shipments for the past eight consecutive quarters.

The recently released Dell'Oro Group report finds that Enterasys ranks number one in market share for the period January through March, 2001 in the following categories:
* Total worldwide ports shipped, Layer 3 modular (27.8%)
* Total North American ports shipped, Layer 3 modular (31.4%)
* 10/100 Ethernet worldwide ports shipped, Layer 3 modular (29.7%)

* 10/100 Ethernet North American ports shipped, Layer 3 modular (33.3%)

The "Q1 Ethernet Switch Report" ranks all manufacturers in the Layer 3 switching market, including 3Com, Cisco Systems, Extreme Networks, Avaya and Nortel Networks. The Dell'Oro Group predicts that the Layer 3 market will grow to $9.1 billion by 2004.
