Solar is Boosting Property Values in SE QLD

Announcement posted by Amp'd Electrical & Solar 01 Mar 2016

Did you know Queensland now boasts the World’s highest penetration of residential rooftop solar? Thinking of going solar?

A new report has shown solar power not only reduces power bills and is better for the environment; it also adds value to properties. According to the study, in some cases house values increased by more than $90,000 and units by $109,000 after solar panels were installed.

Goodhew co-ordinator Kramer Martinez said there was a trend of Sunnybank customers adding additional panels to their existing systems in the past six months. He said higher property values and lower power bills were the main reasons people took up solar power, and that average savings were nearly $500 a quarter.

Meanwhile, RE/MAX Sunnybank real estate agent Ross Bischoff said solar panels were used as a selling point for potential home buyers. Southsider Bob Dean and his son Brad, of Camp Hill, had five kilowatt systems installed on their properties. Mr Dean said he believed it would increase his property’s worth.

“I would assume that it would — definitely if you have a solar power system on your roof. Not everyone sees a swimming pool as a reason to buy,” he said.
