Silent Comedy Festival creating laugh out loud moments at Arbory

Silent Comedy Festival at Arbory Bar and Eatery from March 22

Arbory Bar and Eatery on Flinders Walk continues to expand its involvement with the arts community with Arbory Silent Comedy Festival kicking off in time with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival on March 22.

Featuring four of Melbourne’s most loved comedic talents; Jimeoin, Adam Rozenbachs, Bev Killick and Bob Franklin, Silent Comedy is a new concept that invites people to enjoy a laugh, out loud, with themselves.

The comedian’s microphone and the audience headphones are connected via a system allowing only those wearing headphones to hear – much like the silent disco phenomenon of the mid 2000’s. The audience can still see the physical body work of the comedian, without the noise of other patrons or trains at Flinders Street Station to disturb them.

“We wanted to commit to something fun and interesting for the comedy festival, but we know we have some restrictions with ambient noise from customers, the station and people on Flinders Walk. We decided to take the silent disco concept and evolve it in to Comedy,” said Tim Botterill, owner of Arbory Bar and Eatery. “We have a strong commitment to using our venue as an arts space and we are constantly evolving our thinking so we can be further engaged with the arts community, be innovative and ensure our customers can enjoy a different experience,” he continued.

Arbory Silent Comedy Festival is on at Arbory Bar and Eatery from Tuesday March 22nd and every Monday and Tuesday during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Tickets include the comedy show and a drink to get guests started and can be purchased at www.arbory.com.au
