RAD announces high speed shdsl modem

Announcement posted by Paclink 14 Aug 2002

Paclink has announced the release of RAD Data Communications ASMi-52 SHDSL modem with remote management.

SHDSL (ITU G.991.2 and ETSI TS 101-524) standard technology uses TC-PAM (trellis coded pulse amplitude modulation) to achieve increased distance and improve spectral compatibility. The ASMi-52 modem extends the transmission range to up to 5km (3.1 miles) at 2 Mbps data rate over 24 AWG cable. "The product reaches father distances than can be obtained using any other DSL technology on the market today, and at a cost-effective price", said Craig Martyn, Managing Director at Paclink.

Flexible Configuration

The ASMi-52 supports multiple data rates and infrastructures, operating at speeds of up to 2.3 Mbps over 2-wire and up to 4.6 Mbps over 4-wire lines. It is available with Ethernet and most digital interfaces. The ASMi-52 modem is part of a complete solution that includes the central site LRS modem rack, DXC multiservice access node or FCD-IP access unit with integral router.

Multi-Vendor Solution

RADs ASMi-52 modem is a fully standardized SHDSL device, enabling it to interoperate with any standard SHDSL equipment, and has already been incorporated into the solution of third party vendors.

Available from Paclink, the ASMi-52 ranges from AUD$1900 (RRP).
