Latest All Saints Estate Family Cellar release wines full of hand-crafted passion

ALL SAINTS ESTATE, the award winning historic winery in the Rutherglen Wine Region, Victoria today launched the 12th release of the Family Cellar wines.

Hand crafted from low-yielding vines grown in sandy loam soils, these grapes have been carefully tended to from hand picking to gentle basket pressing. These wines are only made in great vintages and released when they are at their very best. “The 2013 vintage had dry conditions throughout the growing season producing intense flavours. The 2012 vintage is a result of mild weather, careful vineyard management and gentle winemaking” said Nick Brown, Winemaker.

The 2016 limited release comprises three wines;

2013 Family Cellar Marsanne
The Marsanne vines are over fifty years old and produce on average ten tonnes per hectare resulting in fruit of intense flavour. The fruit was hand harvested, wild fermented, barrel fermented in French oak using indigenous yeast and aged on lees for eighteen months.

2013 Family Cellar Shiraz
Made from Estate vines planted in 1920, producing five tonnes per hectare, and a small amount of 1992 Estate fruit, producing eight tonnes per hectare. The fruit was steeped on its skins for three weeks before gentle pressing through the 1880 French basket press and aged in French and American oak barrels (two thirds old, one third new) for eighteen months.

2012 Family Cellar Durif

1992 Estate fruit, producing eight tonnes per hectare, was fermented and macerated on skins for four weeks before gentle pressing through the 1880 French basket press. It then spent twenty months ageing in French oak barrels (two thirds old, one third new) and was bottled with minimal fining and filtration.
