96 year-old Jilli inspires others to share their Pearls of Wisdom

Announcement posted by Feros Care 26 Apr 2016

A feel good campaign, bringing people of all ages together sharing Pearls of Wisdom, is helping change the perception of ageing in the community.

Asking for advice on life, aged care provider, Feros Care, has received some fantastic “pearls”, all delivered with the benefit of hindsight from three year olds to seniors in their 90s.

A heart warming three minute video, made as part of the campaign, featuring men, women and children sharing their pearls of wisdom, has already had more than 65,000 hits on You Tube and across social media sites.

The clip stars Jilli Richardson, aged 96 years, who sings the classic tune “Live A Little”  – lyrics she says speak the truth about life. Jilli’s wonderful performance is one of the reasons the campaign is bridging the generational divide. You can just feel her positive energy. A resident at Feros Village Byron Bay, Jilli has thrown her support behind the campaign. She believes “it’s so wonderful to be alive”, at any age, and spends her days inspiring fellow residents, staff, volunteers and visitors at her Feros Village.

Jennene Buckley, CEO of Feros Care, says she has been delighted with the success of Pearls of Wisdom, highlighting the important role seniors have in the community and encouraging interaction between young people and seniors.

“Seniors have so much life experience, funny stories and great advice to share, why not spread the word to everyone and bring seniors and young people closer,” she said.
