Seniors Outdoor Fitness World Record Attempt & first official launch in Perth of International Pay It Forward Day
Perth charity People Who Care will “Pay it Forward’’ on the first official launch of International Pay It Forward day at the Bell Tower on the 28th of April by hosting an event for Perth’s seniors with an Outdoors Fitness World Record Attempt at 11 am and family fun day with exhibitors and demonstrations from 9am – 3pm.
Perth is well known for its generous community of people who care for families that are at risk or in situations of extreme disadvantage. Supporting seniors and volunteers by embracing a world record opportunity allows Perth to celebrate the hard work of our seniors and volunteers and at the same time collect gold coin donations to support our essential services to Perth’s most disadvantaged. Gold Coin donations can be made online at www.seniorsworldrecordattempt.eventbrite.com.au or on the day at the participant registration desk from 9am.
A new unofficial Guinness World Record was set on 20 June 2014 for the largest seniors outdoor exercise class where a total of 52 people turned up for the exercise class in Sydney’s northern beaches. Prior to this attempt the only existing, similar world record for people aged over 70 years is the oldest dance troupe, The Hip Op-eration Crew from New Zealand, consisting of 23 active members aged 67 to 95 years old, with an average age of 79 years.
People Who Care CEO Mrs Alison White, said that People Who Care is excited to be involved with “an opportunity to not only encourage the benefits of seniors fitness but to launch international Pay It Forward day in Perth and encourage others to support each other and fulfill our mission to create communities of people who care about each other.”
Pay It Forward day, is always held on the last Thursday in April and is a concept articulated by Catherine Ryan Hyde from her book of the same title. To Pay It Forward you just need to act in a selfless way and show that you care to those around you by an act of charity, whether it be a stranger, a friend or someone who may just need some support from someone in the community they live in. “Celebrating Pay It Forward Day for People Who Care is a way for us to show Perth exactly what it means to be one of Perth’s People Who Care and Pay It Forward to our seniors by bringing them together for this wonderful event,” Alison stated.
The outdoor exercise class was will be run by professional trainers from Mind Over Matter Health and Fitness and is proudly supported by the Perth Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority and our many other sponsors. We hope to attract over 400 seniors to the event and encourage them to stay all day and share in the many wonderful events planned on the day.
