Australian sports stars urge employers to shape up

Announcement posted by Monster.com 13 Feb 2003

The stars of Fitsmart are calling on employers to provide fitness support for staff. www.fitsmart.com is the online personal training service where everyday Aussies can get a fitness routine tailor made for them by a worldchampion.
FitSmart swim coach, Kieren Perkins warns Australia is in the midst of an obesity crisis and employers who provide staff with equipment or time for fitness training will have the edge in business.
"Generally speaking, fit employees are more productive, take less sick days and are mentally sharper than staff who are doing no exercise," said Perkins.
Monster, the leading global online careers website and flagship brand of TMP Worldwide Inc. (NASDAQ: TMPW), the world's leading supplier of human capital solutions, supports the athlete's claim with results from the latest Monster Metre survey of more than 500 Australian candidates.
The results reveal that more than 85% of respondents believe fit employees are more productive in the workplace.
Commenting on the survey, Craig Kennedy, President, Monster Asia Pacific, said, "Health and wellbeing are key concerns in today's workforce, Monster is pleased to be working with FitSmart to provide healthy workplace options for candidates on Monster.com.au".
The FitSmart sports stars, including 5 time world surfing champion Layne Beachley, 3 time Olympian Kieren Perkins, tennis ace Sandon Stolle, Olympic kayak sensation Shelley Oates-Wilding and 4 times world K1 kickboxing champion Adam Watt, will hit the sand at Manly beach tomorrow to play off against the staff of Monster.
