Announcement posted by XSI Data Solutions 08 Mar 2003

LightPulse Family of HBAs Provides Flexibility, Interoperability and Intelligent Capabilities For Complex SAN Environments
Emulex Corporation (NYSE: ELX), the world's leading supplier of storage networking host bus adapters (HBAs), today announced that Quantum Corp. has qualified Emulex's LightPulse PCI-X and 2Gb/s family of Fibre Channel HBAs for use with its ATL P-Series, ATL M-Series, and Quantum DX30 in Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Solaris operating system environments. New certifications are comprised of Emulex's award-winning LP9802, LP982 and LP9402DC PCI-X HBAs, as well as the LP9002L, dual channel LP9002DC and SBus LP9002S.
"Emulex's robust suite of storage networking connectivity solutions provide a terrific platform for the Quantum enhanced data protection and tape library families to provide customers with a highly reliable and scalable SAN environment," said Dean Morash, manager of business alliances for Quantum's Storage Solutions Group. "We look forward to continuing our relationship with Emulex and are confident that our two companies' industry-leading products will deliver the robust features and functionality that our joint customers demand."
Emulex's LightPulse family of Fibre Channel HBAs is ideal for SANs utilizing Quantum ATL P-Series and ATL M-Series tape libraries, and the Quantum DX30 disk-based enhanced backup solution, providing support for 2Gb/s Fibre Channel data rates, while delivering industry-leading performance. The Emulex family of HBAs offers firmware-based architecture and operating system driver compatibility across Emulex's entire HBA product line, which provides customers with a simplified upgrade path, reduced management complexities and also ensures a lower total cost of ownership. Emulex HBAs, including the LP9802 PCI-X and 2Gb/s family, are fully compatible with drivers that support the company's new centralized HBA management suite, HBAnyware, which incorporates driver-based technology to enable complete management of Emulex HBAs and the ability to upgrade firmware anywhere in a SAN from a single console.
"Quantum's qualification of our Fibre Channel HBAs reinforces that Emulex delivers the industry's leading SAN connectivity solutions that enterprises require for high performance data storage environments," said Mike Smith, Emulex Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing. "Emulex is fully committed to ongoing collaboration with Quantum to ensure not only the highest levels of interoperability, but the broad and successful deployment of industry-leading SAN solutions."
