Sydney Airport’s duty free partner HEINEMANN Tax & Duty Free has unveiled the final phase of the transformation of its largest duty free store in T1 Departures, making it the largest standalone airport duty free store in the world with an incredible range of products featuring exceptional choice and compelling discounts for passengers. The final section of the store reveals an extensive fashion and accessories range including many Australian airport firsts.

The opening of HEINEMANNN’s flagship T1 duty free store heralds the final stages in its extensive opening journey since joining Sydney Airport in February 2015. Its five-store footprint across T1, with a sixth store due for completion in late 2016, enhances the passenger experience by offering greater value and choice across a selection of compelling brands.

As part of the T1 improvements program, the opening of the store also improves ambience and wayfinding with a greater sense of openness and clearer lines of sight delivered via the refreshed store layout. Wider pathways improve passenger flows with more direct paths to aircraft gates.

The new fashion and accessories zone showcases an extensive range of international fashion, jewellery, watch and sunglasses brands including Bally, MCM, Furla, Salvatore Ferragamo, Kailis, Girard-Perregaux, Fendi, Zegna and Jimmy Choo.

Renowned Australian designers feature strongly in the new fashion area creating a greater sense of place and a uniquely Sydney experience at T1. New brands available for the first time at an Australian airport include a selection of jewellery by Samantha Wills and new season fashion ranges by Alice McCall and Seafolly.

A custom-built dining concept, Coast Café complements HEINEMANN’s recently opened premium food offering, Bridge Bar. The new dining concept showcases a contemporary design, while a gourmet menu especially developed by renowned Australian chef, Luke Mangan, offers a range of sandwiches and small meals as well as quality coffee and refreshing beverages.

Coast Café provides the ideal space for passengers to sit, relax recharge and soak up the new shopping experience before boarding their flight.

“We are so proud of the final configuration of HEINEMANN’s T1 Departures store with its refreshingly contemporary store design delivering a strong sense of place at Sydney Airport. The fashion and accessories offering has been hand-picked to feature both Australian and international designers with some brands represented for the very first time at an Australian airport, underpinning our retail strategy to deliver a unique retail experience and provide more choice and value to passengers,” Sydney Airport General Manager, Retail Glyn Williams said.

“The new zone will certainly be a great drawcard for our international passengers, enhancing their journey through the airport.”

HEINEMANN Asia Pacific Chief Executive Officer Max Heinemann said passengers at Sydney Airport can now enjoy the full duty free experience at HEINEMANN Tax & Duty Free T1 Departures store.

“Instead of talking about duty free stores, we would look at it as a transformation into a one-of-a-kind duty free shopping environment that should take every aspect and expectation of the passenger's journey into clear consideration. They should feel cared for and ultimately convinced that this is the right moment and place to indulge in hassle free shopping before departing Sydney. We’re positive passengers will enjoy the shopping experience at HEINEMANN across T1 for a long time to come,” Mr Heinemann said.

The opening of the store coincides with works commencing within the terminal to raise the height of the roof which, when complete, will provide a focal area with commanding views of the city, greater natural lighting and enhanced lines of sight to boarding gate lounges.

With the first stage of a brand new luxury retail precinct recently unveiled, Sydney Airport’s T1 will be transformed into one of Australia’s premium fashion destinations.
