The global body representing manufacturers and suppliers of dental products, the association of International Dental Manufacturers (IDM) has elected Mr Phil Jolly of Australia as President Elect.

Mr Jolly is the current Vice President of the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) and a senior manager for new business development in the Asia-Pacific with Ivoclar Vivadent, a global dental products company that employs approximately 3,300 people globally.

“It’s an honour to have been elected at such a dynamic time for the dental industry as manufacturers step-up to the challenge of providing new and innovative products that support oral healthcare,” Mr Jolly said.

Founded in October 1988 in Washington DC with a head office based in Switzerland, IDM serves as an independent umbrella organisation to globally represent the common interests of member associations and support the interests of the global dental industry as a whole.

IDM serves as a significant point of reference for the FDI World Dental Federation, the global body representing dentists.

“IDM provides advice and guidance to FDI on matters ranging from the industry’s support for the latter’s oral health programs, to the conduct of the FDI World Dental Congress, which serves both the industry and profession well,” Mr Jolly said.

There is a distinctly Asia-Pacific focus in IDM’s leadership with Dr. Kiyotaka Nakao elected as President, representing the Japan Dental Trade Association (JDTA).

The current IDM leadership serves a two-year term covering 2016-18 where upon Mr Jolly will serve as IDM President over 2018-20.
