Istanbul still safe with Mosaic Travel

Announcement posted by Sea Salt Marketing 02 Jun 2016

At the end of March, Smart Traveller updated the travel warning for Istanbul to ‘reconsider your need to travel’. However, boutique travel company Mosaic Travel is ensuring travellers can still experience the Mediterranean country, creating bespoke tours that make safety the highest priority.

While no travel destination can be 100% safe, Rosie Richardson, the director of Mosaic Travel, has experienced no issues, problems or scares on her current trip to the Turkish capital, with some of her clients noting “We have not felt the slightest bit unsafe”.

Before embarking on this latest tour, Rosie called all Mosaic Travellers booked on all three tours to Turkey this year, as well as those who had booked independent journeys to Turkey. 100% of clients opted to continue.

In fact, the heightened concern has left the streets of Istanbul uncrowded and free from tourists, adding an unexpected element to already highly customised tours. However, the Turkish people are feeling the effects of these reduced numbers in tourism.

According to the vice president of the organisation and the head of the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers’ Association (AKTOB), Yusuf Hacısüleyman, Turkey is likely to lose $USD12 billion in lost tourism revenue this year.

Mosaic Travel ensures you can support the local economy while also experiencing the very best of Turkish culture and staying safe. It runs two tours based out of Istanbul – the Black Sea Odyssey, which covers Turkey, Georgia and Armenia, and The Portakal Tour, which covers a number of cities in Turkey. Both tours are run by Rosie and a selection of local guides, delivering a boutique and bespoke experience that sees you explore the back streets of the local bazaars and visit Byzantine churches, beautiful mosques and Ottoman palaces, all while staying in the old city.

In modern times, there’s no complete guarantee. But with Mosaic Travel, a visit to Istanbul has never been easier.
