Scott Pendlebury’s Progression Fitness Club to be one of the First health clubs in Australia to install Smart Solar and Storage

Announcement posted by Enphase Energy 13 Jul 2016

MELBOURNE, Australia July 13 2016Enphase Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENPH), a global energy technology company, announced today that its installation partner, Living Energy, has installed a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system in a fitness club owned by Collingwood Football Club captain, Scott Pendlebury.

The solar PV system was installed at the Cremorne training facility by Living Energy Solutions using Enphase Microinverters and Suntech One modules. Compelled by climate change issues and the desire for greater personal responsibility towards the environment, Pendlebury wanted to incorporate solar PV as a way of leading by example.

Spread across 450sqm, Progression Fitness Club boasts a main arena with premium Iron Edge training equipment, a 3-lane IAAF certified athletics track, boxing zone, 25-bike cycle room, heated yoga loft and designer change rooms. Led by specialist instructors, classes include HIIT Sweat, Strength, Cycle, Boxing, Yoga and Pilates.

Scott Pendlebury, partner at Progression Fitness Club and captain of Collingwood Football Club said, “From the word go, we wanted to provide a holistic health and wellness experience. Our members are driven to live fit and clean lifestyles and that extends to the environment. Now that we have our solar monitoring live on display in our lounge, the members can see what it’s generating and feel proud that their training is environmentally friendly.”

While the solar PV system currently provides more than 100 percent of the club’s daytime energy requirements, not all of their energy consumption occurs during solar hours meaning they still rely on grid power for their morning and evening classes. The installation of the modular and scalable Enphase Storage System will bring the club closer to being carbon-neutral.

Pendlebury said, “We’re extremely proud to be setting an example by being one of the early adopters of energy storage. We did our research and Enphase’s smart system was the obvious choice. When the Enphase AC Batteries are installed in August, we want the club to be energy-self sufficient but stay connected to the grid for the odd occasions when more power is needed.”

Nathan Dunn, managing director of Enphase Asia-Pacific said, “We are delighted to have been selected by Scott Pendlebury to help Progression Fitness Club go green. More and more Australians are seeing the benefits of smart, distributed generation. We congratulate the club on the example they’ve set and we look forward to seeing the additional benefits brought by installing the Enphase Storage System.”

Progression Fitness Club members will get a glimpse of how much solar energy has been produced throughout the day on the TV screens displaying monitoring from Enphase Enlighten™, a cloud-based platform that monitors solar generation and consumption from any web enabled device, with battery storage to be integrated from August onward.

The solar system is being included in Channel Seven’s AFL half time feature segment during the Adelaide V Collingwood game being televised nationally on July 16th.
