RAD Celebrates First Anniversary of its Oceania Office in Melbourne

Announcement posted by RAD Data Communications 07 Dec 2004

Local Sales Increase by 15%, South Pacific Sales by 20%
One year on from opening an office in Australia, privately held RAD Data Communications today announced that it has increased sales by 15% across the Australian market. Sales across the entire South Pacific region have also grown by 20% in the same period.
RAD Australia is a wholly owned subsidiary of RAD Data Communications, Ltd., which provides access products and solutions for carriers, ISPs, cellular networks, service providers and corporate networks throughout Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. RAD products, which have been available in Australia for well over a decade, are sold by independent distributors, but in November 2003 the company cemented its commitment to the growing South Pacific market by opening an office in Melbourne.
This year in Australia RAD has been involved in a number of significant projects, including a major implementation of high speed data and Internet services in schools for the Department of Education and Training in New South Wales. In addition, RAD also appointed a new distributor, Integrity Data Systems, with the aim of targeting the wireless market.
RADs existing stable of distributors and partners, PacLink and PCS in Australia, and Agile in New Zealand and the South Pacific region, have continued to deliver strong sales figures throughout the year. In Australia, RAD announced that Melbournes CityLink electronic toll road chose RADs patented TDM over IP (TDMoIP) solution for its emergency voice services.
In New Zealand, Agile achieved the highest sales growth across the South Pacific, with a 25% increase in orders, coming particularly from the utility market. RAD is also considered the prime supplier of telecommunications access solutions in Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Vanuatu, Tonga and Fiji, through its partners Agile and PacLink.
Udi Furman, General Manager of RAD Australia, said the growth in sales is a great sign for RAD, but also for the telecommunications market in the country as a whole.
When we opened the new office last year, our objective was to expand our customer base, establish new accounts and strengthen our relationships with our existing customers, Mr Furman said. With the increase in sales locally and across the region, we have achieved that and look forward to an even better year in 2005.
This year we have seen considerable growth in the carrier market, and that growth has been reflected in our own results for the year. Over the last few years, budgets have been tight and the carrier market was struggling, but in the last 12 months we have seen a big improvement.
We are also poised to make a big push into the wireless arena with the 5.8GHz frequency product range that we offer. We appointed a new partner, Integrity Data Systems, in August this year to target this market and look forward to substantial growth there too.
In the year ahead, RAD will also be concentrating on the emerging IP market, and will continue to develop products like VPN gateways that will map PDH and SDH traffic onto IP. RAD will also be releasing solutions to allow efficient cellular backhauling over IP satellite links, which will help deliver connectivity to rural Australia.
