Announcement posted by TPP Internet 08 Dec 2004
Global registration of .sb domain names through TPPs online technology
TPP Internet Australia (TPP), has announced that Solomon Telekom Company Limited (Solomon Telekom ) has appointed TPP as the exclusive international domain name registrar for the Solomon Islands (.sb). TPP will commence registering .sb domains from early January 2005.
TPP is an Australian based company specialising in the registration and management of domain names from Australia and around the world. TPP was chosen as the exclusive registrar for .sb due to its robust platform which already supports tens of thousands of domains. The advanced technology, developed by TPP, ensures a seamless integration of .sb domains into the current TPP platform.
TPP Internets Managing Director, Peter Shilling, said, This is an important step in our strategy to provide Australian and overseas businesses with a broad range of domains from the international domain space. Additionally, TPP will be assisting with the marketing of .sb by informing relevant organisations around the world that the .sb domain space is open for business.
Solomon Telekom, Manager Information Systems (Internet Services), Mark Flynn, said, Prior to TPP Internet taking responsibility for this critical role, organisations looking to register their .sb domain names faced lengthy waiting periods. Registration would be by mail and the fact that we had no online payment facility was cumbersome. Now, globally, any organisation simply has to go to TPPs registry site, identify the desired .sb availability and register using a credit card which is filtered through TPPs secure payment system.
The announcement strengthens the comprehensive international domain name offering already available to TPP customers due to its expertise gained from operating the Global Corporate Domain Service. A number of Australias leading companies already utilise the TPP management system to manage their global domain names, said Shilling.
