Locally developed Stax provides easy management of AWS workloads

MELBOURNE, 13 October 2016 – Versent today announces the launch of Stax, a new tool that helps enterprises manage and do more in the cloud by providing visibility, insight and recommendations for using Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.

Stax is the brainchild of employees from Versent, an Australian IT consultancy that helps enterprises operate more efficiently in the cloud. It gives visibility to engineers, managers and heads, so that more informed decisions can be made, saving time and money.

Stax enables customers to get the most of out of their cloud environment by providing full stack visibility, risk and compliance assessments, and advice for achieving best practice.

Speaking at the launch event today in Melbourne, Dave Slutzkin, Stax general manager, said that the purpose of Stax was to develop a powerful and engaging tool that makes understanding and managing cloud easy, further increasing confidence for enterprises moving to the cloud and helping to improve their maturity in AWS.

“Cloud computing can enable drastically improved business outcomes at a fraction of traditional IT costs but a lack of visibility and insight into cost, risk, and quality has held enterprises back from fully embracing public cloud environments,” said Slutzkin.

“We launched Stax to really make the cloud tangible for management and key stakeholders. It removes the fear and uncertainty that can restrict enterprises from embracing cloud through visibility, insight and guidance,” concluded Slutzkin.

Developed in Australia, the Stax team of AWS experts co-designed and built the tool with their customers so features offer exactly what Australian enterprises require and work in a way that best reflect the needs of the organisation.

Michael Ridgway, Director of Engineering at Carsales.com.au, said that Stax has given them a tangible view into the whole picture of AWS that they couldn’t get with other tools. “Stax has helped us uncover and remediate a number of things that we wouldn’t have been able to find without the visibility Stax provides”. Working closely with the local team has meant Carsales.com.au has had direct input into designing product features. “The Stax team has been really helpful in understanding our business and unique challenges. We’re looking forward to working together as Stax becomes a key piece of our tooling”.

Stax helps enterprises manage costs by providing control of cloud spend in a way that matches an organisation’s business structure; monitoring spending in real time and allocating costs to business units, projects or even regions. It helps improve efficiency of cloud services and reduce wastage.

The newly released tool helps manage risk exposure against internal policies and helps ensure the security of AWS workloads by identifying precise areas of the shared responsibility security model. Stax can also help reduce compliance risk and increase efficiency at audit time.

Stax is available now. Enterprises can sign up for a free 30 day trial and determine fixed pricing based on average usage in AWS.
