Multicap and Minister O’Rourke breaking ground for people with disability

Disability Services Minister Coralee O’Rourke joined Multicap CEO Ms Joanne Jessop and a state-of-the-art robot in Alexandra Hills to officially break the ground at the new building site of future homes for people with disability.
The Minister spoke of the importance of assured housing for people with disability, and the government’s funding initiative: the Elderly Parent Carers Innovation Initiative (EPCII).

The EPCII was established to assist aging or elderly parent carers find permanent, suitable homes for their children with disability, ensuring their children are supported when the parents can no longer care for them.

The new housing, jointly funded by Multicap and the Queensland Government, will provide permanent homes to at least five people with disability plus on-site support workers and a state-of-the-art interactive robot called Multicap.

Multicap the robot was present for the ground-breaking, and spoke to families and colleagues about the work that it would do once the homes were built and occupied. 

Building at Alexandra Hills will commence soon.
