NSW & ACT CHAMPION APPRENTICES, TRAINEES AND EMPLOYERS RECOGNISED

2016 Group Training NSW & ACT Awards

NSW and ACT most promising Group Training apprentices, trainees and host employers have been acknowledged at the 2016 NSW & ACT Group Training Awards.

Jason Sultana, Executive Officer of the Group Training Association of NSW & ACT said “the 2016 NSW & ACT Group Training Awards highlight the importance of apprentices and trainees in the workforce and applaud the efforts of our host employers who are willing to create the opportunities to launch the careers of many young people.”

Apprentice Phillip Hyde and Trainee Elissa Burgin both from HVTC were named the Apprentice and Trainee of the Year respectively. GTES Wagga based employer Wet Bricks and MG My Gateway Sydney based employer CJD Equipment were named Small and Large Host Employer of the Year respectively.

Overall 9 winners we announced on the night celebrating the important role the Group Training industry provides in the skilling of our youth of today for the industry needs of tomorrow.

About the Group Training Association

The Group Training Association of NSW and ACT is a peak body for employers in vocational education and training in NSW and ACT. Group Training Organisations (GTOs) employ apprentices and trainees, then place them with a host, providing workplace coaching and support until the apprenticeship or traineeship has been completed. GTOs provide skilled young people to diverse industries in NSW and ACT including plumbing, mining, construction, engineering, hospitality, electrical, automotive and beauty therapy. The Association’s objectives are to ensure industry has the workforce it requires, assist young people to make the transition from school to work and provide access to Vocational Education and Training for disadvantaged people, including those with disabilities, unemployed, rural and remote, mature aged, Indigenous and non-English speaking
