Australian IT developer and marketer receives two prestigious NSW Government awards
The new Minister for Western Sydney, the Hon Diane Beamer today presented Australian software developer and marketer, Positive IT Solutions Pty Limited, with two awards from the Department of Information Technology & Management's agency, Office of Western Sydney.
The companys e-tivity workplace automation product won the prestigious Most Outstanding IT product award and its managing director, Phil Jones, was named Entrepreneur of the Year.
Since it was established in 2001, the company has signed about $80 million in contracts, expanded its workforce from 34 to 60 and doubled its leased premises.
E-tivity, introduced to the market in January 2003, is the first product of its type to provide the advanced features of the Microsoft .Net framework for time collection, time and attendance, award interpretation, job costing and rostering/scheduling.
Microsoft spokesperson, Shuk Chan, said Positive had been an early adopter of the new Microsoft technology. "Positive has utilised many of the features of the new platform, such as remoting, that will deliver the product anywhere in the world via the Internet. We congratulate Postive on this achievement one that has certainly raised the bar for its competitors."
The e-tivity product is targeted at major corporations wanting a centralised solution that can be delivered to many sites around the country through either their intranets or via the Internet.
It can be delivered to any Internet-based device Notebook, PC, PDA, mobile phone anywhere in the world. Employees can act on vital information anywhere and at anytime from any smart device.
Phil Jones said the company had invested heavily in e-tivity. "Our development effort began in March 2001 and since that date we have invested more than 30 resource years of development labour. The support we have received from Microsoft has made this all worthwhile. By using the Internet and Microsoft .Net together we have enabled our software application to more easily work together with other applications."
Commenting on the companys win in the Most Outstanding IT Product category, Mr Jones said: This is true recognition for the hard work and immense skill of all the team at Positive. The e-tivity product is already increasingly recognised in the marketplace with sales momentum. The award now acknowledges the technical competency of the product.
He went on to say that his own Entrepreneur of the Year is a reflection of the backing and support of a very dedicated team. There is no way anyone wins this type of award alone. This team deserves the accolades. I just steer the ship, point it in a direction and then rely on the engine room to get us there. The prestigious award is recognition for the many times our ship hit a reef and the team just got back up, restarted the motor and continued.
