Blue Sky Industries Introduces Cyberguard's Intergrated VPN Solution Into Premium Firewall Appliances

Announcement posted by Blue Sky Industries 28 Nov 2001

- CyberGuard leveraged firewall security to provide a VPN that combines ultra-high security and ease-of use -
Australian-owned Blue Sky Industries today announced the availability of CyberGuard's new virtual private network (VPN) product in the Australian market, which is integrated into the Version 5 line of CyberGuard premium appliance firewalls.

As e-commerce continues to replace more traditional business transactions, providing the means for secure business dealings to take place across the Internet becomes critical. While a firewall protects the integrity of a network, a VPN allows businesses to construct secure, protected "tunnels" through which business dealings can take place. VPNs can be used to connect business locations securely and directly to each other without the need for dedicated leased lines; they may also be used to connect remote users or sites securely with a central location, such as the medical staff of a
hospital or a salesperson on the road away from their home office.

"One of the biggest obstacles to implementing a VPN solution successfully is its complexity. Simplicity and security seem to be almost mutually exclusive," said Martin Kaldor, director of Blue Sky Industries. "CyberGuard's approach is to make installing and managing a VPN as easy as possible. CyberGuard firewall appliances are recognised not only for their security, but also for how simple they are to manage. Its integrated solution has a single management interface that makes set-up and use easy."

Ease-of-use features that will be built into the VPN include default profiles and helpful pull-down screens. Other features include:
* User interface with integrated VPN and firewall management offering user-friendly functionality;
* Interoperability with a wide array of third party platforms and clients;
* Fully integrated standardised IPSec, IKE and X.509 PKI certificate support;
* Wide range of cryptographic algorithm support including 3DES and AES;
* Capability for VPN access through NAT to remote private networks;
* Optional hardware cryptographic acceleration;
* Access control for all traffic; and
* Central administration, consolidated monitoring and logging.
