JBoss application server community to benefit from IONA's enterprise-level consultancy, training and support expertise
JBoss Group LLC, provider of the most popular Java-based application server, and IONA (NASDAQ: IONA), a world leader in high-performance integration solutions for mission critical IT environments, have announced a strategic alliance. Under the agreement, IONA and JBoss Group will collaborate to offer customers enterprise-level services including consulting, training and support for the JBoss application server. The partnership also certifies IONA as a JBoss Authorised Service Partner.
The strategic alliance will help JBoss Group accelerate the adoption of the JBoss application server at a time when open source is becoming an increasingly attractive option for enterprise customers, while providing IONA the opportunity to forge new enterprise-level relationships within those organisations. The alliance offers customers a compelling value proposition, bringing together IONA's expertise in solving and supporting the integration needs of the world's most complex and highly distributed enterprise systems, with the industry's most popular open source application server.
"We are delighted to partner with IONA, recognising the significant value IONA brings to customers, said Marc Fleury, founder and president of JBoss Group. IONA is extremely capable of supporting the JBoss platform in complex, heterogeneous mission-critical environments, which will help give many enterprise customers the assurances they need to develop and deploy on the JBoss platform."
Said Rob Mills, managing director of IONA, ANZ and ASEAN: Software frameworks that cost huge sums up front and which lock customers into proprietary architectures in the long term are a thing of the past. JBoss and IONA can now offer enterprises an opportunity to lower their costs of implementation and support for their J2EE application server platforms without introducing elements of risk. J2EE is an extremely important technology for today's enterprise and will continue to play a major role in the future of application development.
As part of the alliance, IONA will offer a range of enterprise-level consultancy, training and support options to the JBoss community. Support offerings can be bundled with IONA's current Enterprise Level Support agreements for its Orbix and Artix families of integration products or on a stand-alone basis for JBoss customers. IONA will leverage the JBoss Group back-office support structure for a complete coverage for customers.
"The alliance is a strategic move for both JBoss Group and IONA," said Pierre Fricke, executive vice-president, Web Application Infrastructure, D H Brown Associates. "This will stengthen JBoss in the enterprise market and enable new services that take advantage of IONA's enterprise integration expertise. Together, they are increasing the competitiveness of the J2EE platform."
