Announcement posted by The ADWEB Agency 12 May 2005
Australian businesses will now be able to manage their intranet and extranet systems more easily following the launch of Intranet DASHBOARD (iD) version 1.3, the worlds most advanced out-of-the-box intranet and extranet solution.
iD 1.3 is a website operating platform that creates a centralised hub from which intranet, extranet and portal systems can be built, managed and deployed.Developed in Australia by The ADWEB Agency (ADWEB), it comes with 34 in-built tools and applications and is proven to save organisations up to 80% on their intranet and extranet related infrastructure and support costs.
The launch coincides with ADWEB securing its first sale of iD 1.3 to Select Australasia, a network of specialist HR and recruitment firms, who this week began implementing the software to standardise its existing intranet system across all 17 businesses, which employ 600 staff in total.
Following a string of recent acquisitions, the company currently operates five intranets of varying qualities. We wanted to bring these systems together to improve the delivery and sharing of information, explained Kevin ONeill, IT Director for Select Australasia.
We chose iD 1.3 as it was the only product that allowed us to do this without sacrificing each brands identity. Independent sub-sites will be set up for each business and managed from the one central platform.
Another key selling point was the 34 in-built tools and applications. They matched our wish list perfectly, ONeill said. We havent come across anything iD cant do, which is nice. iD 1.3 will be launched across Select Australasia starting early June 2005. It comes with:
1. An in-built Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine (MSDE). This allows companies without the full version of Microsoft Sequel Server to access and take full advantage of iD 1.3.
2. Developer Opportunities. With the new Enterprise 100 and Enterprise 1000 licenses, the software is not encrypted giving businesses the ability to create new applications if required, although 95% of client requirements are typically satisfied out-of-the-box.
3. Enhanced security features. New extranet functionality provides a higher level of security for companies while individual departments using the intranet system can keep sensitive information private.
4. Reduced set up and implementation times. A company with 100,000 users can now have their intranet and extranet system up and running in a week rather than a year. The intuitive interface and administration tools will reduce training times by around 70%.
5. A unique licensing model. With iD 1.3, businesses only pay for the number of administrators using the system rather than the number of individual users.
According to ONeill the licensing model is very attractive: IT departments typically dont have a huge budget for web projects. Intranet DASHBOARD gives you the flexibility to start small and grow with the success of the project.
Campbell Dobbin, Director of ADWEB, said this low total cost of ownership (TCO) was a major drawcard. Setting up an intranet or extranet system used to cost anywhere up to $500,000. With iD 1.3 companies can be up and running for a fraction of that cost. The software also improves efficiency levels by reducing the content management burden on IT departments and freeing up staff to focus on the more important tasks, Dobbin added.
iD 1.3 was produced in ADWEBs Melbourne development centre over a six month period. It cost $1 million to build and involved 15 full time staff. It is the first major upgrade since the product was launched in June 2004.
iD 1.3 is now available Australia-wide. The standard version retails for $995.00 per license with Enterprise 100 and 1000 starting from $87,000. Full service packages are available from $5,000. All prices exclude GST. For more information or to register for a free 30 day trial please visit www.intranetdashboard.com or call +61 3 9819 6333.
