Worldwide leader in server-centric computing launches a new range of high performance, low-cost thin clients based on the latest technology with Wyse's classic and popular form factor
Wyse Technology, the domain experts in server-centric computing (SCC), announced today the Winterm 3150SE, 5150SE and 9150SE thin clients based on Microsoft CE 5.0, Wyse Linux 6 and Microsoft XPe. The new range of thin clients is based on the latest hardware and operating system technology and is aimed at core Australian market needs.
The products are the first result of the strategic alliance between Wyse and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
Featuring the latest highly integrated AMD Geode GX 533 processor, the hardware platform shared by all three products delivers excellent processing performance with lower power usage and cooler operation. It is aimed at the core Australian requirements of high resolution graphics for large LCD monitors (up to 1600 X 1200), USB 2.0 and legacy ports (both parallel and serial). The classic Wyse case delivers this extensive IO capability in an attractive functional design with low cost, essential for the competitive Australian market.
The Wyse Winterm 3150SE is the first thin client device running on the Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 platform, with exceptional speed and price/performance improvements. Wyse has added extensive and unique intellectual property to the standard Windows CE 5.0 code including fast boot and a local language interface supporting English, French, German and Spanish. The Winterm 3150SE supports ICA 8.01 and RDP 5.5 giving the latest server-based Windows terminal functionality available. It comes standard with 32MB Flash and 128Mb RAM allowing the user to have numerous open sessions. The Winterm 3150SE is available immediately with a typical retail price of AU$ 649.
The Wyse Winterm 5150SE is based on Wyse Linux V6, the most advanced Linux firmware for thin clients based on the latest Linux 2.6 kernel. The Winterm 5150SE offers unique flexibility in the form of free seating capabilities, enabling users to log in to different clients without losing their configuration, and modular software design for easily adding or removing features as necessary. The device offers unique "stateless" plug-and-play configuration giving the device "plug in and go" capability. Wyse Linux 6 supports the latest ICA and RDP protocols, X-Windows, Java and a full-featured local Mozilla browser (optional). The Winterm 5150SE will be available at the end of Q4 2004 and have a typical retail price of AU$ 649.
The Wyse Winterm 9150SE is a high performance, yet affordable, small form factor XP Embedded thin client. Positioned as an entry-level alternative for the XPe thin client market, the Wyse Winterm 9150SE provides the performance and functionality needed in robust XPe thin client implementations. Powered by the Microsoft XP Embedded OS, the Winterm 9150SE supports a full local browser with multimedia and can run 32-bit, 16-bit and Java local applications. It comes standard with 256 MB Flash and 256MB RAM. The Winterm 9150SE is available immediately with a typical retail price of AU$ 799 (+VAT).
The Wyse Winterm 3150SE, 5150SE and 9150SE all come bundled with the latest Wyse Rapport 4.4 management software (Workgroup Edition).
With all new products, Wyse is offering a 3-year warranty.
