Announcement posted by Filtered Media | telling your story, brilliantly 01 Jun 2017

Canberra, Australia – 1 June 2017 -- The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), the nation’s peak industry body for the technology sector, has today announced the iAwards winners in ACT for 2017. AIIA’s iAwards is Australia’s leading awards program for innovation in the digital economy.

Finalists have been announced in three core categories – Consumer Markets, Business Services and Public Sector & Government. These winners have also been successfully recognised for additional contributions – as startup of the year, research & development project of the year, and as outstanding infrastructure and platform innovations.

Winners and merit recipients across all categories progress to represent the Australian Capital Territory at the National iAwards in Melbourne. National winners will be announced on 30 August 2017 at the prestigious AIIA Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, being attended by startups, innovators, investors, business and community leaders and federal and state politicians.

Senator the Hon. Arthur Sinodinos, Federal Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, and the Hon. Philip Dalidakis MLC, Victorian Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade, will make presentations on the evening.

“Here in the ACT we want to see technological innovation continue to make Canberra one of the world's most liveable cities and a hot bed for entrepreneurship in Australia,” said Greg Boorer, Chair of the AIIA Federal & ACT Council.

“Canberra enjoys many advantages thanks to its unique city/state political status combined with proximity to Government and some of the most skilled and experienced technology workers in Australia. These advantages will be further strengthened by the quality of the innovations that will be showcased as part of the 2017 Digital Canberra iAwards.”
