Here's something you can use for the post-conference blues.

Announcement posted by Melinda Fell Consulting Pty Ltd 03 Jul 2017

Back at work, the buzz of energy and excitement you shared at the conference or ED course is slipping away fast as you begin to feel the familiar weight of everyday tasks on your shoulders. We all know the feeling, but we don’t all realise that you can turn this negative energy into a positive. A few words about a recent experience of mine shows one strategy.

OK, this time it is all about you!

Returning from an entrepreneur personal development conference always prompts me to think about self-awareness and how people can use it to their advantage. In a world where we are encouraged to be team-centric and think of others first, there can be a bit of guilt associated with putting yourself front and centre.

You now have permission to do just that. Yes, it is all about you.

OK, you’re back from the conference and the same old world is beginning to close in. Step aside for a moment and ask yourself why? Now, step further aside and have a good long look at yourself too.

Here’s the most common answer.

The excited and motivated person at the conference was the real you. A butterfly escaped from the chrysalis of everyday work.

But coming off the conference high, you’ve allowed yourself to slip back into the same old, same old.

As I said, time for a look at yourself and how you can bring that energy into your working day.

Here are a few questions to get you started

  • Do you have any sort of plan for your life journey and any self-development that may be required to attain your goals?
  • What are you doing to self-assess your areas of happiness and discontent?
  • Can you identify what’s missing and join the dots?
  • Not everyone is equipped to evaluate their own personal transformation, or prepared to gain the skills to do so. But how we measure life, work happiness and our place in the universe is essential to making progress along the journey
  • What is your trigger, or wake up call to accelerating your personal development?

Remember back at the conference or course? Immersed and ignited with bright ideas you were confident (of course you were!) of following through?

Why does this happen – where do all your great ideas go? What will inspire you to reach for the stars and pull off that crazy concept? What’s niggling in the back of your mind that you are putting off, or are not making time for?

At the event I attended, many of the speakers focused on turning life’s challenges and disappointments into triggers to drive personal growth and future success.

Now it’s back to you again

OK. So, your blues weren’t all about the conference or ED course. Now you know they were about you.

Perhaps you were disappointed with yourself, or just resigned to slipping back into the same old rut.

Stop it!

You’re doing it again. Go back and reread a few of the questions. Give yourself a quick life review, where you are and where you’d rather be.

Are you satisfied, or are there things you’d like to change? Executive coaching can be the catalyst to give you the knowledge and strategies to drive your life in the direction you’d like it to go.

Executive coaching can get you up and running at the level you want to operate on – and stay there, before, during and after conferences, ED courses and company feel-goods.

Why do you think so many senior managers and decision makers rely on it?
