ACS Distance Education have recently written and released a new course- Biographical Writing.
The Biographical Writing course is a 100-hour course that helps you understand the foundations in how you can go about writing your own biography. A biography is neither a diary nor a journal. It's more than a collection of ‘she did this’ and ‘he did that’. Although biographies are writing about life, it's more useful to think of them as a collection of writings about life events. What are the key events? How do these tie around a central theme or purpose?
What's the difference between biography and memoir? What's biographical research? Who "authorizes" a biography anyway?
Dig into how this popular form works with our new 100-hour course: Biographical Writing. You'll learn about different types of research, where to start gathering information, and how to apply the art of fiction to the craft of a biography. In the final lesson, you'll write a 2000 - 4000 word biography and receive individual feedback from our academic staff.
This course covers the following lessons:
- Scope and Nature of Biographical Writing
- Researching a Biography
- Developing Context
- Short Biographies
- Comprehensive Biographies
- Planning a Biography
- Editing and Marketing a Biography
- Project – Writing a Biographical Story
