Local business woman nominated for National Awards

Mum making a difference to families and teaching her son to care.

Melissa Woodward of Evolution Health Services has been nominated for the 2017 AusMumpreneur Awards.

The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The AusMumpreneur Network celebrate and recognise Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognise the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.

“At the time of falling pregnant with my son, I was in a corporate job that made me very unhappy. I would often come home upset and realised that when he arrived he deserved a happy mum. I wanted to return to my passion in the health and fitness industry as a Remedial Massage Therapist and Personal Trainer. Alongside my husband, also a Personal Trainer, we decided to create a business that was aimed at helping other parents lead happy, healthy lives and become positive role models.”

There are many benefits to balancing business and motherhood as Mrs Woodward explains, “My business gives me the opportunity to be a positive example for my son. He often attends our group training sessions. He is overheard telling the ladies “Good job” and asking them to run with him. He creates fun games for them to play and it’s wonderful that they accept him being there, as well as get involved with him. He often sees me caring for my husband with massage and offers us a massage too. It’s so beautiful to see that following my passion is helping him to care for others so well.”

It can be challenging to be a successful business woman whilst raising a family and Mrs Woodward gives this advice for others thinking about starting their own enterprise. “Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. You need to be confident in the product or service you are about to deliver in your business, so you need to be able to speak confidently about it. If you don’t believe what you are saying, your customers will not believe you either. Be proud to stand up and share your passion. Your passion will be contagious and inspiring to others in business too”.
