Frost & Sullivan Selects Arbor as APAC Anti-DDoS Vendor of the Year

Cites New Low-Cost and Virtualised Solutions Plus Arbor Cloud for Best Practice Hybrid Defence

Arbor Networks, the security division of NETSCOUT (NASDAQ: NTCT), has been selected by the analysts at Frost & Sullivan as the 2017 Asia-Pacific Anti-DDOS Vendor of the Year. The award was presented to Arbor Networks at the annual Frost & Sullivan Asia-Pacific ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) Awards banquet, held at the Shangri-La Singapore.


The recipients of the annual Frost & Sullivan Asia-Pacific ICT Awards were identified based on in-depth research conducted by Frost & Sullivan's analysts. The short-listed companies were evaluated on a variety of actual market performance indicators which include revenue growth; market share and growth in market share; leadership in product innovation; marketing strategy and business development strategy.

Mr. Vu Anh Tien, Industry Analyst, Cyber Security Practice, Frost & Sullivan said, “Aiming to provide customers with comprehensive solutions to protect against volumetric and sophisticated DDoS attacks, Arbor continued to strengthen its security ecosystems by advancing its detection capability with a stronger integration of its threat intelligence via the ATLAS Intelligence Feed, integrating mitigation automation mechanism, and increasing mitigation capacity on both hardware appliances and cloud-based scrubbing services,” he added. “By providing a hybrid anti-DDoS protection model with its advanced solutions and services, Arbor Networks is able to cater to the rising demand for DDoS protection among service providers and large organisations who need to defend sophisticated and large volumetric DDoS attacks, particularly with the emergence of IoT botnets.”


Mr. Vu also said that Arbor Networks continues to be the first choice among telcos, internet service providers, data centre service providers, banks and government organisations across Asia- Pacific when it comes to choosing an anti-DDOS vendor. He also noted that Arbor has introduced a suite of low-cost virtualised solutions and fully managed services targeted at the broader enterprise market.


According to Arbor's ATLAS system, which monitors global web traffic, Australia has been targeted by:

·         81,000 attacks year to date in 2017

·         The top sources of DDoS Attacks targeting Australia were: US, China, UK, Germany and South Korea

·         The largest attack was 627Gbps, during the last two weeks of January

·         Australia also saw attacks of 597, 580, 480 Gbps, many were in the 300-400 Gbps range.
