Fighting Cancer with Exercise

Announcement posted by Rebound Health 08 Aug 2017

1 in 3 Australian men and 1 in 4 Australian women will be diagnosed by cancer before the age of 75. Cancer does not discriminate, it affects people of all ages. A major illness like cancer, can appear on the surface a sentence to a more sedentary existence; however recent research suggests that exercise benefits most people both during and after cancer treatment. Exercise can help to manage the side-effects of cancer treatment, increase energy levels, and help protect against metabolic and cardiovascular disease. Evidence also shows there is little risk of exercise causing harm if care is taken and professional exercise advice is followed closely. For some cancers, exercise may even improve treatment outcomes.

Rebound Health Exercise Physiologists, in conjunction with the Northern Cancer Institute in St Leonards, are excited to be delivering the CanStrong Program - an exercise program aimed at helping people either going through Cancer treatment, or who are looking to re-engage with exercise after treatment. "We aim to give our clients confidence in returning to exercise, and build individualised programs that will help them achieve their goals". Rebound Health Director Andrew Daubney.
