Business breakfast with social purpose

Announcement posted by Underground Communications 09 Aug 2017

On 31 August 2017 Conscious Capitalism Australia and New Zealand in collaboration with Two Good Co will be hosting a Sri Lankan breakfast to bring together business leaders over conversation about working for profit and purpose.

Participants will mingle with social engineer Rob Caslick, the CEO of social enterprises Two Good Co and We are Table, Vanessa Watson, who produces the event series for We are Table, and celebrated chef O Tama Carey, of Lankan Filling Station, who will entertain you using her culinary expertise with a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast feast.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with CCANZ partners and find out more about the concepts for business in Australia.

The breakfast gives people the opportunity to connect with businesses of any size so that they can share in strategies to align their business with social purpose or corporate social responsibility. The breakfast is the first in a series of events that offer the opportunity to discuss the benefits of doing business with social purpose with like-minded businesses, and get first hand advice from those that have already walked the path and are part of the new corporate revolution.

Conscious Capitalism is a global movement that aims to co-create a thriving ecosystem of conscious businesses that serve, lead and advocate the greater good. Conscious Capitalism Australia formed in 2012 and was the first chapter established outside of the US. The Chapter merged with New Zealand in 2016 and brings together a community of business and thought leaders who all share the belief that business has the power to elevate humanity.

"Today, the concept of social purpose is becoming an important aspect of business. How an organisation is perceived by its customers, suppliers and the general public has a major impact on its success. This is not new, but the idea that you can benefit a community at the same time as doing well in business, is often not considered,” says Victoria Plaksin, Partnerships Director, Conscious Capitalism ANZ.

“Where business leaders often struggle is in establishing a way to make a positive social impact that aligns with their values and is, therefore, an authentic aspect of their business. At this breakfast we hope to inspire solutions and opportunities between people about how to incorporate social purpose into any business. And, with our growing network of people and businesses, participants can connect with those who are living and breathing this every day."

To start attendees on their social purpose journey, for every breakfast purchased on the day, a meal will be provided to the kids at Holroyd High School in Greystanes, where 60 per cent of families live below the poverty line. So, you'll be starting your day in a positive way and helping a young Australian to do the same.
