MERCURY ANNOUNCES INTEGRATION STRATEGY FOR MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO 2005 TEAM SYSTEM

Announcement posted by Mercury Pty Ltd 09 Jun 2005

Today at the Microsoft Tech Ed 2005 Conference, Mercury Interactive Corporation (NASDAQ: MERQ), the global leader in business technology optimization (BTO), announced its intention to support Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System.
Mercury announced its integration strategy with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System as part of its commitment to support the entire application quality ecosystem from product design and development, to application delivery and management. Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System is an extensible lifecycle tools platform that helps software teams collaborate to reduce the complexity of delivering modern service-oriented architecture (SOA) applications on the Microsoft .NET Framework.
Microsoft is pleased that Mercury plans to support Visual Studio 2005 Team System, said Rick LaPlante, general manager of Visual Studio 2005 Team System at Microsoft Corp. Mercury's support of Visual Studio 2005 Team System will help development and quality assurance teams collaborate on the testing and delivery of custom and SOA applications built on the .NET Framework."
The Mercury strategy details how the integration will be designed to help customers using Mercurys market leading application testing products and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 to:
 Share testing assets such as unit tests, functional and load tests in both development and quality assurance through integrations with Mercury Quality Center and Mercury Performance Center;
 Collaborate on the diagnosis and resolution of application defects, performance bottlenecks and scalability problems across the entire application lifecycle using Mercury Diagnostics; and
 Provide full visibility of the application testing process through the Mercury Application Delivery Dashboard.

Mercury sees a clear opportunity to work with Microsoft to bridge the gap between development and quality assurance to help our customers ensure the quality of their custom and SOA applications built on the .NET Framework, said Rajesh Radhakrishnan, vice president of application delivery products at Mercury. Mercury is committed to providing our customers with the ability to optimize application quality from development through production.
Today, customers using Mercury Quality Center and Mercury Performance Center can test the quality and performance of Microsoft .NET Framework-based applications and Web services. Customers use Mercury LoadRunner, which is part of the Mercury Performance Center, to emulate real-world load conditions in .NET Framework-based applications and Web services to ensure they will meet the demands of the business prior to deployment. Customers also use .NET Framework add-ins for Mercury QuickTest Professional, part of the Mercury Quality Center, to test frequently changing functional requirements in applications and Web services before going live. In addition, Microsoft enterprise customers use Mercury Diagnostics to manage application availability and performance 24x7 by detecting problems before they affect customers, isolating problems to system or application tiers, and pinpointing root causes to specific components across the application lifecycle.
As enterprises adopt increasingly complex custom applications and introduce new architectures, it is imperative that developers and quality assurance professionals collaborate across the entire lifecycle. Developers and quality assurance professionals need to have the right products and technology to work together to ensure the functionality, scalability and performance of applications meet the needs of the business, said Theresa Lanowitz, research director at Gartner, Inc. Bridging the gap between development and quality assurance is essential in building a strong application quality ecosystem.
For more than 15 years, Mercury has helped thousands of customers optimize application quality and performance. Gartner ranks Mercury as the market leader in the Gartner Inc.s 2005 Magic Quadrant for Application Quality Ecosystem1. According to IDC, Mercury is the undisputed leader in application delivery with more than 55 percent market share, more than double its nearest competitor.
