Christine Ross and Joslyn Tass announced recipients of WA ATSI Leadership Scholarship

Christine Ross, Managing Director Christine Ross Consultancy, and Joslyn Tass, Program Coordinator Aboriginal Throughcare Program, have been announced recipients of behind closed doors (BCD) Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Leadership Scholarship in Perth for 2017.

The scholarships, awarded in the form of a 12-month fully funded BCD Executive membership, will provide access to professional development, peer to peer mentoring and networking opportunities with some of Western Australia’s most influential and leading businesswomen.

behind closed doors Founder and Managing Director, Donny Walford, said the scholarship was awarded to a successful ATSI female leader to further expand and challenge their current leadership and governance practices.

“BCD Executive membership will provide Christine and Joslyn with a professional sounding board and support network to discuss professional and personal issues, challenges and strategies in a totally confidential environment,” Ms Walford said.

“ATSI community leaders play a vital role in our society, we are delighted to have such respected leaders as part of our membership to learn with and from.”

In her application for the scholarship Christine said she was looking forward to the learning opportunities. “We all want to be extended in our careers, I am open to learning about other opportunities and being part of events that are run to extend my skill set.” Ms Ross said.

During the judging process Joslyn described herself as a values driven professional that always promotes and encourages high performance and commitment from her team members and self. Already an influencer, BCD is keen to support Joslyn progress her career to a senior executive role.

The two award recipients each receive a 12-month fully funded BCD Executive membership valued at more than $7,500.

A runner up award, consisting a one-hour mentoring session, was awarded to Robyn Templeton, owner Robyn’s Eco Cleaning.

Following the receipt of an Australian Government Grant, BCD in 2017 has doubled its scholarship offering with a matching Grant now in place. Some 30 scholarships are being awarded across Australia including eight to ATSI female leaders.

Applications are currently open for ATSI leaders scholarships available in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.
