TOP MAKEUP ARTISTS NAMED AT PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL COMPETITIONS

Announcement posted by Beauty Expo Australia 28 Aug 2017

Media release - Monday 28 August 2017, Sydney: Australia’s most talented makeup artists have been announced at the Face2Face Makeup Awards, which took place at Beauty Expo Australia over the weekend at the ICC Sydney. The renowned national competitions are a highlight of the industry and aim to reward extraordinary makeup artists for their craft, creativity and passion.

Beauty Expo Australia represents a significant platform for the entrants’ talent to be recognised in front of thousands of beauty professionals and industry heavyweights, who come together under one roof for unparalleled access to networking, innovations, and inspiring trends from the world of beauty.

From 72 awards entrants in 2017, five winners were chosen across five creative categories – Beauty Editorial, Body Art, Bridal, Creative Makeup, and Fashion Catwalk – by an esteemed judging panel, including Creative Director of the awards, Becca Gilmartin.

“The awards this year have been amazing. I think the awards represent an even playing field for everyone – whether you’re an amateur, a student, or a professional – it’s all about the competition on the day. There’s no other competition that I know of that puts the artist under this sort of pressure to create something that they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to do… It’s a really good activity to be involved in to push yourself”, said Becca.

Winner of the Beauty Editorial category, Isabelle De Vries from Perth, also took out the Fashion Catwalk category and was placed second in the Bridal category. As part of her Editorial award prize, Isabelle will have her image collection published in a future issue of Australia’s “Beauty Bible”, LAUD magazine, and will be featured as the publication’s RISE artist for makeup.

“The editorial award came as a massive shock – I was the runner-up last year, so to win just means so much to me. Editorial and runway makeup are my loves, I’m so passionate about them and to receive feedback from such an incredibly talented judging panel, who were all so supportive, made the win that much more special. I enjoyed participating in the awards and I’ll definitely be entering again next year!”, said Isabelle.
