Applications for 2018 Gottstein Fellowships closing soon

Announcement posted by Parsec Communications 28 Aug 2017

The deadline for applications for 2018 Fellowships is 25 September 2017.

The Gottstein Trust provides financial support to people employed in the forest and forestry industries who wish to further their education, develop new skills and continue contributing to the industry through their professional development.

The deadline for applications for 2018 Fellowships is 25 September 2017.

The Joseph William Gottstein Memorial Trust Fund was established in 1971 as a national education trust to promote the development of Australia’s forest products industry through the pursuit of excellence in people, processes, and products.

J.W. (Bill) Gottstein, was a forest products research scientist working for the CSIRO, who was tragically killed in 1971 while photographing a tree-felling operation in New Guinea. The trust encourages people to acquire knowledge which will promote the interests of Australian industries which use forest products to produce sawn timber, plywood, composite wood, pulp and paper and similar derived products.

Each year the Gottstein Trust invites applications to submit a study program in an area considered to be of benefit to the Australian forestry and forest industries.

Study tours undertaken by Fellows have usually been overseas but several have been within Australia. Fellows submit reports on completion of their program, and these are posted on the Trust’s website.

Three new fellowships were awarded in 2017 and more than 110 Fellows have undertaken studies in countries such as Canada, the US, Germany, Austria, Brazil, Japan, Switzerland, and New Zealand.
