Pure South Dining Wins Award for Excellence in Fit Out

Announcement posted by Second Helping 30 Aug 2017

Pure South Dining’s builder, Hedger Constructions, has won the award for Excellence in Fit Out at the 2017 Master Builders Excellence in Construction, Housing and Regional Building Awards.

The iconic Melbourne restaurant underwent a complete overhaul last year that saw the venue take over the space above them. The fit-out from Hedger Constructions involved a complete demolition of both floors and the execution of a design brief that integrated the Southbank promenade experience and stunning city skyline views into a new open plan river level venue and a more formal, intimate dining space upstairs.

Melbourne design and architecture practice Herbert & Mason developed the project’s design and fit out.

A key component of the refit involved the use of earthy tones and materials to reflect the shifting shapes, colours and textures of Tasmania and the menu concept of using solely Tasmanian produce. This link is a cornerstone of the restaurant’s philosophy and guided material selection, colour palettes and layout.

“We are thrilled that the craftsmanship of Hedger Constructions has received this industry accolade. During the extensive renovations, their team demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence and professionalism. The result is a modern Melbourne dining destination that truly reflects the identity of Pure South Dining,” said owner Philip Kennedy.

Upstairs Pure South Dining is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week
