Australian Country Party comes to Queensland

Announcement posted by Australian Country Party 08 Sep 2017

An inaugural meeting of the Australian Country Party (Queensland Branch) was held on 31st August

The inaugural meeting of the Australian Country Party (Queensland Branch) was held on Thursday 31st August 2017, at Shaun’s Tavern Burpengary.  The meeting was the first meeting of the party that originated in Victoria in 2005 as “Country Alliance" and later was successful in reclaiming the name “The Australian Country Party” which is registered Federally, in Victoria and  urrently  seeking registration in NSW.

The meeting’s business discussed a range of local issues including the closure of the Churchill abattoir and the Baiada chicken processing plant at Wulkuraka that will affect 900 workers and threaten up to 28 poultry farmers in the region of West Ipswich through to the D’Aguilar highway.

The party is looking to build a supporter base of members from both rural and regional centres and Queensland’s major cities alike.  The Australian Country Party will give Queenslanders back a voice that many believe was stolen from them at the creation of the LNP.   Queenslanders are currently unhappy with secretive deals with foreign nationals and the large scale sell-off of rural properties around the state and “The Australian Country Party” will give those voters a real alternative.

“With the rise of “The Australian Conservatives” taking many disgruntled liberal voters around the country it’s only natural that a party would come forward and offer former National Party members a real alternative “Said Andrew Jackson, Chairman of newly formed SE Qld Branch.
